This document will give you more details about Malayalam GNU/Linux Project. As any other projects, the team should be divided into diffrent sub-groups. Mainly GNOME and KDE teams, along with that one Malayalam Language experts group. Also small teams like web maintainers group maintainers etc. After some progress the teams will be divided further, concentrating on diffrent areas like document translation. Also some other groups will be added like package maintainers.
The task of this project is not much complicated, it is just about translation.
Eventhough some basic things are required to start the translation.
First of all fonts and then tools like GTranslator and KBabel. The tools are already available
from the home pages of those projects. And about fonts, There is no font available with
UNICODE encoding. Until the fonts are available we can use 8-bit fonts.
The project group can subdivide into small groups as described below. Your suggestions are
welcome for any other group division.
This team will work with GNOME translation. All those who works with GNOME team should
contact the GNOME coordinator. GTranslator is the tool available for translation.
If anybody starts working with an application, (s)he required to contact the coordinator of that
application project. Whenever a new release is coming out, translation also should be done
at the same time. One or two persons can join as the translators of one application.
KDE translation team can also work as GNOME team. And the tool they can make use is KBabel.
Till now nobody is registered as the co-ordinator of KDE project.
Anybody who is very good in English and Malayalam can join in this sub-group.
First task of this group is to make a list of commonly found words in GNU/Linux (especially
in menu bar and while right cliks etc.) After that they can help in documentation translation.
Or themself can do that.
Other subgroups like web maintainers,group maintainers etc. are required.
Later some other groups like package maintainers are also required.
